I can almost taste it. Tomorrow night we will be saying good-bye to 2010. It was a decent year… nothing too special for my husband and I, but a lot of fun things for the extended in-law family. Let’s just say that 4, yes 4, babies were born in 2010 for my in-law family. My brother-in-law and his wife welcomed a darling little girl. Also, one cousin-in-law had twins (a boy and girl) and another cousin-in-law welcomed a little girl as well. I had so much wonderful baby time at Christmas this year… It was fabulous!
I will be saying good-bye to 2010 and welcoming in 2011 with my family. We will be at my sister’s house and my mom, dad, Rose, sister, brother-in-law, and two nephews will be in attendance. My poor hubby has to work that night, so he will not be joining us. My family is pretty low-key and we will probably just hang out and when the boys go to sleep we will play a riveting game of Trivial Pursuit. Nothing too wild and crazy.
I do have an update on my resolutions. I went ahead and created a brief chore chart for the hubster and myself. He was a trooper and picked his chores and then asked if they would be posted somewhere. Here is what it came down to:
Dishes (cleaning, putting in dishwasher)- Hubster
Update Budget- Me
Tidy Up- Me
Cook Dinner- Me
Feed Bandit- Hubster
Grocery Shop- Me
Clean Bathroom- Me
Clean Kitchen- Hubster
Clean hard floors- Me
Water Plants- Hubster
As Needed Chores
Unload Dishwasher- Me
That’s it. My only hope is that my plants survive. (J/k… I know my babe is super responsible and will keep them alive). I think this is pretty fair, considering all the chores were assigned to me before this chart. I am sure there are plenty of other things that I am not thinking about, but if we come to them, they will be assigned.

Two posts in two days? I know! Crazy!
I thought I would post to answer a question about the 365 Photo Challenge. Basically it is a challenge to take a photo every day. It does not have to be perfect or even pretty. It is to build a habit of taking pictures and I am hoping it helps me develop my “eye” for photography. The hardest thing for me will be getting the pictures from the camera to the computer. I don’t think I will have a problem snapping a shot, but actually loading them and posting them will be tough. I have a feeling I will probably post every other day and post two pictures. (In an ideal world it would be one a day, but I do not live in an ideal world.)
I would love to have an accountability partner or two on this project, so if you are interested, let me know!
How is that list of resolutions going?
T-4 days until 2011! This is the most exciting time for a resolutionist. This the the time that we compile our list of resolutions for the new year. I have done resolutions the same way for quite some time and I will continue this practice for this year as well. When I start deciding what I want to do, I take a look at different areas of my life which I want to work on. From there I usually come up with 1 or 2 things that I really want to focus on. Now, even though I have done it this way, I tend to fall off the wagon like most folks and then some Sunday night I start thinking about trying it again. This continues every Sunday night until a new year 🙂
Enough babbling… Here is what everyone has been waiting for. In bold type is the area I chose to focus on and in regular print is the actual resolution (I am sure you could have figured that out on your own, but hey, I like to be helpful).
Work out 3x a week (this can be taking the dog(s) for a walk, yoga DVD, etc.)
Drink at least 3 cups of water a day
Have at least $3000 in our regular savings account (we are starting out with about $1000)
Keep my checkbook balanced
Eat at home 5x a week (This could go in the health category, but we do it more for money reasons. When we eat at Mom and Dad’s on Wednesday nights, I am counting that, since we are not going out and buying our dinner.)
Create and keep up with a chore chart (This will involve my husband as well)
Complete the 365 day photo challenge (This will be featured on this blog and there will be more details to come)
Read at least 2 books a month
Blog at least 4 times a week
Finish my wedding scrapbook
Go to church on a regular basis
Start and keep up with a prayer journal
That is it. My hope is to continually check in with how I am doing with these resolutions and hopefully get to check them off when they are finished. Unfortunately, what usually happens is I fall off the wagon around the end of January (I know, I don’t have much self-discipline) and then I write a whole new list or come up with something else to try in mid-February and it all starts again. That is the life of a resolutionist.

I had a day off work today… Now before you start imagining me sitting on a beach with a fruity drink in my hand, I actually had a doctor’s appoint. That doctor’s appointment. Ladies, you know what I am talking about. The one in which you are poked and prodded by someone you see once a year. Very awkward.
Anyway, I had some chores to do around the house before my appointment and some errands to run after my appointment. And don’t worry, I definitely treated myself to a grande white chocolate mocha with one pump of caramel 🙂 This afternoon I had a photo shoot with a lovely family. I have known the mom since we were sorority sisters at KU and it was my first time to meet their cutie Harrison. Here are a few of my favorites from today:
Feel very close to the new year and new resolutions! If you are a resolutionist, there is no more exciting time than New Years. It is a time when everyone seems to share in your insanity. Everyone around you seems to be wanting to improve on this or that and make their resolutions. I have already started my list. Many of the things never change year to year, but this year there are a few new items.
For my typical New Year’s resolutions I split my life into different areas and try to find one thing (or many more) in that area to improve upon. For example one area I might work on is health. Under the heading of health I may have a resolution for exercise, eating, drinking more water, etc. Over the next week or so I will be looking back over my resolutions from last year to see what I did well and what I completely bombed on. Once I finalize my list I will begin a countdown of all my items. I know all my readers (all 2 of them– Hi Mom and Sis) are waiting anxiously to see my list.
