Easy Like Sunday Morning…

Except that it’s Wednesday afternoon.

I finished my tutoring today and felt light and free knowing that I didn’t have any pressing plans for this afternoon. My sister texted me to see if I wanted to hike with her later this afternoon, so I (and Rose) will be doing that around 3:30. My to-do list today isn’t very long, and I was able to get one thing crossed off before I even left for tutoring. Here is what my to-do list looks like now:

2 Loads of Laundry
Budget
Clean out car
Jog Hike with Rose
Picture of the day
Water plants
Furminate dogs
Check out ING

I used to have an ING account a few years ago before I got married. Since then, I closed the checking and savings account it was connected to and I changed my last name. I think there are a few hoops I have to jump through so that I can open a new one and connect it to my new account. I am going to have to do a bit of research about that to see what I can come up with.

Here is my picture of the day… I am loving these little purple flowers in my “Vinland Plant” each time I go in and out of my front door:

Day 2 Photo

Today was a tough day as far as having motivation goes. I was exhausted and didn’t really want to do much. I ended up taking a nap this afternoon after tutoring, but then I finally got off my rear and got to work. I headed to my parents’ house to take care of their plants while they are out of town. I took the chance to snap a few pictures of the beautiful flowers and whatnot. Here is my picture for today… although it was quite hard to choose a favorite from today:
After tending to the plants, I went to the grocery store for the week. Here is what’s on the menu at our house this week:

Tuesday- Spaghetti
Wednesday- Grilled Chicken Kabobs
Thursday- Tacos
Friday- Grilled Pizzas
Saturday- Grilled Brats and Hotdogs
Sunday- Pasta Toss

What are you planning for the week? Trying any new recipes?

I will leave you with the other few pictures from today:

New Goal (Of Course)

So, at the beginning of the year I attempted to complete a picture a day. I am going to revisit this goal and try again. I seem to run out of things to shoot and the time to do the editing, but I am going to give it the ole’ college try and attempt to complete it this time. I have a spreadsheet that I found on a website that gives ideas for each week, so I think that will help me with my ideas on what to shoot. The first week is “newness,” but I didn’t really go with this idea. Instead, I went with the standby subjects: Bandit and Rose. I put up all of the pictures on my facebook page at J Lancaster Photography, but the one I picked for my first of 365 is the one of Rose. She is so pretty and photogenic 🙂 Enjoy!

Busiest. Summer. Ever!

It’s been a while. I don’t even really know the last time we spoke. I know it was before school ended and the elusive summer began. Well, I’m back!

Almost every past summer I have been a blob. A bump on a log. A slug. Anything you could use to describe a super lazy person. My summers usually consist of lying on the couch, snuggling with my pups, and watching endless mind-numbing tv. By the end of summer I have to relearn how to use a pencil. And my brain. This would not be the case this summer.

Here is a quick list of what I have done since the children were released from their confines of the classroom:
*Went to Chicago to shoot a wedding
*Finished packing my classroom
*Finished packing my apartment
*Moved apartments
*Moved classrooms
*Unpacked and settled into new apartment
*Unpacked (and not completely settled into) classroom
*Tutor 9 children a week
*Numerous errands and home chores
*Edited 100-some wedding photos

Those are the main things that I can remember. I feel like I am running 100 mph and try to give myself a little time to relax (and possibly nap) each day. I have been busy, but my to-do list is never ending and my want-to-do list hasn’t really even been started. I have wanted to do numerous photo walks this summer, but have barely picked up the camera since the wedding. I have wanted to get into more of an exercise routine, but it has been spotty and very hit-and-miss. I have wanted to scrapbook and read more, but my time seems to be taken by other things. Oh yeah, I wanted to blog more regularly, and we see how that is working out for me.

Maybe someday I will get everything done that I want, but until then I will continue to spin my wheels. Hopefully I will be back sooner rather than later 🙂

Until then, enjoy your summer, and when you are lounging by the pool with a fruity drink in your hand, think of me 🙂
