Rough Week

It’s going to be a rough week this week.  I am in the last week of my Master’s classes for the semester and have so much homework to get done.  I finished one project today that ended up being 17.5 pages long.  I am also still battling morning sickness in the morning, and then nausea the rest of the day.  It makes for a hard time to get much done.  I also have to get a lot of stuff done at school this week and turned in by Friday.

I am hoping that the busy keeps me distracted.  You see, I will be 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow.  Last time I was 12 weeks and 2 days pregnant when I started spotting, and 12 weeks 3 days when our fears were confirmed that I was miscarrying.  This is going to be a very big week for us to get through.  I think that after this week passes, we will begin to do belly shots and updates each week on the blog.  For now, though, we are just getting by with hopes and prayers.

I am staying hopeful due to a couple different things:
1.) I am sick.  I try to remind myself that this is in fact a blessing.  (It is hard to remember that in the morning in front of the toilet, though.)  I didn’t have a lick of morning sickness with my last pregnancy, so I believe this difference is a good one.
2.)  We have heard the heartbeat of our little one.  We were  scheduled to hear the heartbeat of our last little one the week after I started spotting.  We never made it to that appointment.  Knowing that just last week we heard the strong heartbeat gives me hope that this one is here to stay.

I don’t know if I will be around very much this week with all of the homework and other miscellaneous crap I have to get done.  I will try to stop in with an April goals review… which is going to be something to laugh at, let me tell ya.  April has not been the kindest month, which is why I am so very thankful that tomorrow starts a new one!  (And only 16.5 days of school left… not that I am counting.)

I hope your weeks aren’t too crazy, and you get everything done that you want!  I am off to do a load of laundry, empty the dishwasher, and then start working on my next huge project that is due on Friday.  Wish me luck!

P.S.  I am getting very frustrated with the new blogger format and everything.  I think I may switch over to a new host.  Any ideas or opinions?

Decisions, Decisions

Now that everyone knows our little secret, you can probably imagine all of the decisions we have to make in the upcoming months.  I have been putting off working on the budget, because I don’t really know where to start.  Hubs and I have talked about buying a house in the next year or so, but we aren’t sure how possible that is going to be.  We don’t know how much our budget is going to change with the little one joining our household in about 6-7 months.

One big decision that I have been going back and forth about is selling all of my scrapbooking stuff.  I talked about this a while ago, and if you missed the original post, you can read it in full here. The reason I am thinking about doing this is because I never scrapbook anymore.  I don’t even know the last time I actually got my things out to work on something.  I did work on Christmas cards in December, but besides that I haven’t really done much.

I figure that at this point in my life, I have so much time to scrapbook if I wanted.  But that’s the problem… I don’t.  By the time the little one arrives, I will have only a fraction of the time, and I don’t think I will want to scrapbook then.  I also love this idea of organizing photos and printing photo books.  I like the way they look more than a scrapbook.

Another thing that bothers me is how cluttered all of my scrapbooking stuff looks.  It was moved from the guest room down to our bedroom.  It fits well, but it just sits there and collects dust since I don’t use it.  I enjoy the look of minimalist design, and the scrapbooking stuff is definitely  not minimalist.

Last thing I can think of is that I could make some money selling some of the items on Ebay.  I have sold some stamp sets before and made some good money.  Instead of spending money on buying more scrapbooking supplies, I could make some of my money back on this venture.

I figure that since I am still thinking about selling my things, it might be time to bite the bullet and just do it.  It may end up being one of my major summer projects this year.

I would love to hear what you think!

Confession Time!

I have been a bad blogger.  I have been sick and I have been tired.  I have ignored my blog and my to-do list.

Here is a little idea of why:

For those of you who haven’t read from the beginning, Hubs and I suffered a miscarriage back in December.  I was 12.5 weeks along, but the baby only measured 9 weeks.  It was heartbreaking.

We waited the recommended time and were able to get pregnant again!  We had an ultrasound about a month ago and saw the heart fluttering.  Today we had another appointment and heard the strong heartbeat, nice and loud.   The midwife we saw said everything seems to be going perfectly!  We couldn’t be happier!

Now, I can get back to blogging on a regular basis.  I am terrible at keeping secrets, and was sure I would slip up at some point or another.  That’s why I stayed away for so long. 🙂

PS… If you work with me and read this blog, I am not telling my kiddos until closer to the end of the school year, so shhhh. 🙂

Sunday Night Chit Chat

I’m alive! This upcoming week is a big one, so I have been busy and hope to be back to a somewhat regular posting schedule after this week.

Here is my Sunday Night Chit-Chat brought to you by Carla.

This image shows my literature cluster that I had to complete for one of my Master’s classes. I did a cluster about butterflies, and my first graders loved learning about them all week!

What are you…

Reading?
Nothing really. I read blogs everyday, so I guess that would count.

Watching?
Currently we are watching Dateline. It’s about what people think their kids would never do. It’s quite interesting. I think it’s kind of sad that these parents really don’t think their kids do certain things… like use their cell phones while they drive. 4 out of the 4 kids who said they don’t use their cell phones while they drive, were all caught using their cell phones.

Listening to?
Rose is chewing on an antler (it’s better than rawhide) and the TV.

Cooking/Baking?
Nada. I did make spaghetti last night, so I think that counts.

Happy you accomplished this week?
I am happy I survived. I had to leave work early on Monday due to being sick, and I still haven’t been feeling 100%. Hopefully I will feel like myself soon enough.

Looking forward to next week?
I have a college student coming in to teach a couple social studies lessons, so I am looking forward to having a little break from teaching. I am also taking Thursday afternoon off to get a few things done, so that will also be a nice little break.

Thankful for today?
Beautiful weather. I haven’t had the A/C on all day. It’s been nice and cool outside, so I have had the sliding door open, and just shut it if it gets a little cold. The temps should get warmer as the week goes on, and I am looking forward to this. I am very ready for summer and summer break!

Weekend Update

Can I just say that sometimes I don’t even want to bother trying to make plans because they never seem to go the way I expect them to? That’s how this weekend went. I was sick for the majority of the weekend, and the weather around here kept me from doing any errands (since I didn’t have my car here from Saturday afternoon until late Sunday afternoon). Here is my sad update for the weekend:

Friday night
Cook dinner (shouldn’t be hard, but I haven’t done this in a while)- Did not do. Feeling sick = I don’t really want to be around food or cooking.
Do a load of laundry (this has been a goal all week, and it hasn’t gotten done)I did this right before bed because Hubs didn’t have any clean work pants. If it weren’t for him, it probably wouldn’t have gotten done.
Figure out what a Literature Cluster is (This is an assignment that is due next Friday, and I have no idea what it entails)- Nope. Still have no idea what a literature cluster is.

Saturday
Go to the Farmer’s Market with Mom (Depending on the weather, this may not happen)- Nope. It was raining on Saturday morning, and I wasn’t feeling well. Maybe later this month we can go.
Continue laundry until finished, folded, and put away- Let’s say that I got two more loads washed and dried. They are not folded nor put away. Nor is my dirty clothes sorter empty. I hate laundry.
Give Bandit a bath (He is one stinky doggie)- Nope. We had a bit of an incident which involved him scratching his head open until it was bloody and raw. He had his cone off, and I was out of sight for about a minute, and this is what he did. I am going to give him a bath once his head heals. Until then, stinky doggie.
Clean the kitchen- I partially got the kitchen cleaned. I cleaned off about 75% of one counter. I am going to count this as a win.
Update finances, including side bars (To be honest, this has been done in a month… naughty PF blogger)- Nope. Plan on doing this later this evening.
Go to library (for literature cluster stuff)- Nope. I still don’t know what a literature cluster is and I didn’t have a car for most of the weekend, so I went nowhere (except to my parents’ house to drop off said car.)

Sunday
Lesson plan for the week (and get caught up with old lesson plans that I didn’t write down)- Nope. I went to school today and knew what we were going to do, then I was sick and came home around 10:00. Again we will fly by the seat of our pants this week while learning about insects, butterfly life cycle, and plants. It will be good fun!
Clean rest of upstairs- I did get some of the living room cleaned, but that’s about it.
Grocery Shop- Nope. No car on Sunday.
Take boxes of stuff to Goodwill- See above.
Get life planned for the upcoming month (which will lead me to summer break!!)- Nope.

This is what honesty is about, folks. It’s not pretty. Getting sick was not really in my plans for the weekend, neither was severe weather. Some of these things will get done during the week, so I will be able to get more than one item crossed off.

Can I just say that I am looking forward to summer break? Completing a to-do list is a lot easier without having to work full-time. Just 5 1/2 more weeks left!

I hope your weekend was more productive than mine!

Checking In

Just checking in to let you know we are safe! Our area of the state was thankfully spared from much severe weather at all. I have family in some of the cities that were hit, but they are all ok. Today we are out of the woods, but we do have a wind advisory for most of the day, so it looks like all of our deck items will be staying in our living room until later this evening.

Now, hopefully I can have a productive day.

Changes

So, my to do list most likely will not get done. We are in for some nasty weather tonight, so I spent the day out getting some emergency supplies (because I am crazy like that). I couldn’t find a weather radio, but we are stocked up on water for us and the pups and some non-perishable food. Hopefully it won’t get to that point, but we want to be prepared.

We are taking my car to my parents’ house so that it can be kept in the shop, away from potential baseball-sized hail. Our weather isn’t slated to start until late tonight and continue in through tomorrow morning. I hate night time storms. I think they are some of the scariest.

Currently the western part of our state already has some tornadoes touching down. Our weather today has been super windy and warm. We have been listed at a TOR:CON 7. Here is some information on what TOR:CON is. Unfortunately looking at that scale, we are at a 9 for tonight. (10 is the highest rating).

Wish us luck! We are in for a bumpy night. Hopefully I will be back tomorrow morning to let you know we are all safe.

Weekend Goals

I have been rather lazy with most areas of my life. Therefore I am going to try and post a to-do list for the weekend. I want you guys to hold me accountable. If I don’t come back Monday with an update to my to-do list, hound me with comments or emails or if you know me IRL call me and bother me. I need to get so much done this weekend! Wish me luck!

Friday night
Cook dinner (shouldn’t be hard, but I haven’t done this in a while)
Do a load of laundry (this has been a goal all week, and it hasn’t gotten done)
Figure out what a Literature Cluster is (This is an assignment that is due next Friday, and I have no idea what it entails)

Continue laundry until finished, folded, and put away
Give Bandit a bath (He is one stinky doggie)

Go to library (for literature cluster stuff)

Sunday
Lesson plan for the week (and get caught up with old lesson plans that I didn’t write down)
Clean rest of upstairs
Grocery Shop
Take boxes of stuff to Goodwill
Get life planned for the upcoming month (which will lead me to summer break!!)

I think that is it. There are enough things on there that will keep me busy, but I don’t think I am going to wear myself out to the point that I can’t stand up at the end of the day. Again, I am hoping you all hold up your end of the deal and bother me until I get a follow-up post written. I need some accountability in my life.

I hope your weekend is productive or relaxing (whichever you are aiming for)!

Goals and Two Small Updates

Time to break it down…

Finance
*Get back on the wagon- My full budget post will be later in the month, but let’s just say it hasn’t been pretty lately.
*Increase savings account by $500- I am getting some extra money in my check this month, so I think this is doable
*Revamp budget big time!

Health
*Walk daily- I am part of a walking team right now, and I have to say I haven’t been doing as well as I could be. Time to jump back on the wagon and get it done!
*Eat more fruits and veggies- This is also part of the challenge for the walking team, and again I haven’t been doing a good job. Need to get better!
*Drink more water! Who couldn’t benefit from this one?

Work
*Plan my lessons- I have been bad about writing down my lesson plans lately. At this point in the year everything is routine and pretty much the same with only the words and stories changing. I need to get better and more creative with my lessons though.
*Start getting organized for next year- I am moving rooms (again) and need to get things cleaned up and out so they are ready to move.

Household
*15 minute pick up each evening- This could save me a lot of time on the weekends if I just stuck to it.
*Empty the dishwasher when it is clean- I hate this job and the clean dishes end up just hanging out in the dishwasher for quite some time.

That is all I can think of for now. If I need to adjust any goals or end up thinking of more, you guys will be the first I tell!

Now on to some updates:

Update #1- Bandit
Our little guy is itchy. His allergies are in full swing, which is not a good thing. He will scratch until he bleeds… Not good! Luckily I took him to the vet a couple weeks back, and he is on a prescription strength antihistamine in addition to Benadryl. He is doing well with this, but would still rub at his eyes and chew at his feet every chance he would get. I bought some eye drops today at the pet store, and he did really well with me putting them in. I think that they will help once he has had them for a few times.
The vet also recommended we wipe down his legs with baby wipes after he goes in the grass. The pollen will stick to him and cause his allergies to flair. He hates this practice, but just gives up and lets us do it. I think it is helping also because I haven’t seen him chewing at his feet very much. I think we are heading in the right direction!

Update #2- Guinea Pigs
Well, I heard back from the lady selling the guinea pigs. She emailed me back on Monday with pictures of the cuties. I emailed her back and told her that I would definitely like for them to join our classroom. I haven’t heard anything since.
It took a good week or so for her to respond to my initial email from Craigslist, so I think she just doesn’t check her email often. Hopefully I will hear back soon and will have two new class pets! I am a little tired of the waiting game, though.

Well, that’s all for now! We have a long weekend this weekend, so I am looking forward to getting things done and doing some relaxing! I hope you get to enjoy this Easter weekend with friends and family!

April Already

So it’s been April for a couple of days now, and I am just getting around to writing about it. I need to come up with some goals for the month and share them with you guys. I am sure you have noticed my decrease in posting. I promise I do not regularly forget about my little corner of the blogosphere… Life is just getting in the way currently.

I do plan to overhaul my budget this month, so that will be a fun post. It will have to wait until after my payday in a couple weeks, though. Our months go from one of my paydays to the next, so it is not the first of the month like most people.

I have a 3 day weekend this weekend, so I will make this promise to you: I will be back by Sunday night with my goals for the month of April.

I hope your April has started out well!
